*8th graders, listen up. We need a cover for your yearbook. Got a great idea? Can you turn it into a great design? Submit it to Mr. Winiarski in room 330 by the end of September. If your artwork is chosen for the cover, you will win $25 and a free yearbook.
*Calling all 7th and 8th grade singers!! Chamber Choir, an after school singing club for 7th and 8th graders, will have auditions on Wednesday, Oct 1, and Thursday, Oct 2, after school. Sign up for an audition time in room 147.
*Math Club is starting Friday September 19th. Information flyers are available in the Main Office or from Mr MacInnis in RM 332. Students from the 5th through 8th grade are invited to join anytime, there is no deadline. This program is designed to provide rigorous mathematical enrichment opportunities to students who would like to explore advanced math topics that go beyond the grade level standards. See the flyer for more information.
*The first meeting of Pride Club will be on Monday, Sept. 22, from 2:30-3:30 in the 7th grade Project Room. Pride Club is a leadership club whose mission is to promote the acceptance of all students in the Galvin community. All grades are welcome! Please see Ms. Warren if you have any questions.
*Attention 5th and 6th graders! If you are interested in becoming part of the Student Council or simply want to see what it is all about, our 1st meeting is on Monday, September 22nd, until 3:00 pm in Mrs Shea's room 101.
*A Message from the GMS Drama Club - We will be holding an Audition Workshop this Wednesday, September 17, from 2:30 to 3:30 in the Auditorium. It’s a great chance for new members—or anyone who wants a quick refresher—to get ready for auditions. We’ll talk through what to expect, share some helpful tips, and answer any questions you have. Everyone’s welcome—no experience needed. See Mrs. Knupp for more info. We’d love to see you there!
*Do you like writing, drawing, or sharing school news? Join the Galvin Gazette, our student newspaper, and help tell the stories that matter to our school community! The first meeting is September 22nd @ 2:30 in Room 336.
PARENT INFORMATION
*Students should not be entering the building before 7:15 am unless they are attending Jazz Band, Math Club, or have previously made arrangements with a teacher. There is no supervision in the cafe and breakfast is served from 7:15 am to 7:30 am. Thank you for your cooperation.
*Review of Dismissal Procedures: If you should need to dismiss your student during the school day, please send your child in with a note, and have them report to the main office. We will log them in our dismissal book and give them a pass. This will help to alleviate disruptions to classrooms during teaching time. You can still email the teachers, however if that is all you do it may not be transferred to the main office. Also, if you just email the main office staff or Administration, due to the volume of traffic in the office in the morning, an email may not be seen right away. Parents/Guardians MUST come to the main office to sign their child out. Students cannot just walk out on their own. Thank you for your understanding.
*A gentle reminder, for the safety of all staff and students, parents should not be exiting through the parking lot after dropping children off coming from North Avenue. Parents need to exit the parking lot onto Armory Street. Thank you for your cooperation.
