Registration for the Early Childhood Center at Doyle and Woodville is currently closed. If you would like to be added to our waiting list please fill out the following form.
Additional information is available here.
The Wakefield Public Schools offer tuition-free, full-day kindergarten to all our students. Following School Committee Policy, children must be five years of age before September 1, 2025, to enroll in kindergarten.
Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year will take place from January 16 to February 3, 2025. During this period, please complete the registration form online here.
If your child currently attends the Doyle Early Childhood Center, please do not complete the online registration. Simply email registration@wpsk12.org to confirm that your child will attend kindergarten in September. You may be asked to provide updated immunization records to other information by your child’s assigned school.
The school to which your child is assigned is guided by the Wakefield Public Schools Zone Lookup list and class size.
Criteria for school assignments will be based on this zoning list, students’ special education needs, equity of class sizes across the district, and registration during the assigned registration period (January 16th-February 3rd). In the zoning list, some addresses are in the “buffer zone,” where two schools will be listed as options for that address. In these situations, assignments to either school will be made based on the listed criteria above.
You will be notified via email of your child’s school once assignments are finalized. Once your school assignment is confirmed, the secretary at that school will contact you regarding the process to submit the required documentation. The documents that will be needed are:
Birth Certificate
Immunizations
Home Language Survey
Proof of Residency
Proof of Occupancy
Proof of Identification
The attached Residency Requirements document outlines acceptable documentation.
A Virtual Kindergarten Information Meeting will be held via Zoom on March 27, 2025, at 7:00 PM. A link for the meeting will be sent out closer to the date.
Kindergarten screening will take place at your child’s assigned school in June 2025. Your school will contact you with screening and orientation information later in the school year. This will also be discussed at the Virtual Kindergarten Information Meeting.
If you have any questions or need further information, please contact the Superintendent’s Office at registration@wpsk12.org.
