Wakefield Public Schools is excited to welcome out-of-district Massachusetts students to join our community! For the upcoming 2026–2027 school year, we are offering 12 total high school seats through the School Choice Program. Once enrolled, students are welcome to stay with us all the way through to graduation.

Available Seats for 2026–2027
We have three openings per grade across all high school grade levels for a total of 12 total seats.
Application Deadline: Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
The Lottery Draw: Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. (Held at the Superintendent’s office, 60 Farm Street, Wakefield, MA).
Results Notification: Parents will be notified via email immediately following the lottery drawing.
Acceptance Deadline: Selected families must confirm their acceptance by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Who Can Apply: All students who reside in Massachusetts outside the Town of Wakefield and are entering grades 9–12.
One Per Student: A separate, completed online application is required for each individual student applying.
Transportation: Please note that Wakefield Public Schools does not provide transportation for School Choice students; parents/guardians are responsible for travel to and from school.
Waitlist: Once the 12 available seats are filled, remaining applicants will be placed on a waitlist in the exact order they were drawn during the lottery.
Next Steps: Selected students will need to complete the standard district registration process outlined on our WPS Registration page.
