Students PreK - 12 are encouraged to read at least two titles over the summer. Wakefield Public Schools partners with the Lucius Beebe Library to provide suggested reading lists, and we also encourage WPS families to participate in their programming. Students in grades Pre-K-5 do not have any assignments associated with summer reading. Students in the middle and high schools may have additional summer coursework depending on their chosen course load. Please click on the links below for more information.
Celebrate Summer Reading and America’s 250th Anniversary at Lucius Beebe Memorial Library! This summer, students are invited to read, connect, and celebrate community through books, programs, and special events all season long.
Summer At The Library launches June 22 with a kickoff party from 3–5 PM! Make reading part of a fun summer routine. The Youth Room librarians love recommending page-turners, hidden gems, and just-for-fun reads. Participation is free, and readers can earn prizes and collectibles throughout the summer.
As part of the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, the library is also partnering with Wakefield Food Pantry to support neighbors in need. Families are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to the library from June 22 through June 30. A list of the most-needed items can be found here: Wakefield Food Pantry donation list
